Korean Saju Compatibility Test

Two birthdays, one elemental match. See how your Four Pillars (사주) connect — free, in seconds.

What is Saju compatibility (궁합)?

Gunghap (궁합) is the Korean art of reading two Saju charts together. Each person’s Day Master — the heavenly stem of their birth day — carries one of the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), and how those elements meet (nourishing, alike, or controlling) sets the baseline chemistry. The full reading also weighs the harmonies and clashes (합충) between all the pillars. It’s Korea’s cousin of Chinese BaZi matching and, in spirit, of Indian kundli milan.

Outer match vs inner match (겉궁합)

Korean readers split compatibility into two layers. Reading only one of them tells you half the story — couples who look perfect but feel off, and couples who bicker yet can’t stay apart, are both completely normal.

Outer match (겉궁합) — year branch & elements

How your zodiac branches and five elements meet: daily rhythm, values, pace, and how you look together to everyone else. This is the layer people mean when they say "you two suit each other." Your zodiac signs alone are enough to read it.

Inner match — day branch (일지), the spouse palace

In Saju the day branch (日支) is called the spouse palace — the seat beside you. Whether the two day branches harmonize (合) or clash (沖) shapes the pull and the tension between you, and Peach Blossom (桃花) and yin-yang polarity add the rest. A birth date is enough to find your day branch, so the inner match is readable too.

What is the inner match (일지 궁합)?

In Korean Saju, the inner match is compatibility read from both people’s day branches (日支, 일지) — the position traditionally called the spouse palace. Whether those two branches harmonize (合) or clash (沖) sets the pull and the tension between you. 겉궁합, the outer match, is the visible layer read from the zodiac branch of your birth year and the five elements. Looking great on the outside while clashing on the inside — or the reverse — is genuinely common.

How does this compatibility test work?

It is a Korean Saju (Four Pillars) compatibility test: each birthday is converted into a birth chart, and we compare the two day masters — the five-element core of each person — to preview your chemistry. The full gunghap reading in the app weighs all eight characters of both charts.

Is a low elemental score a dealbreaker?

No. A “controlling” element pairing brings friction — but also spark and growth. Elements are just the surface; the full chart (합충, timing, ten gods) tells the real story.

Do we both need exact birth times?

Not for this preview — day masters and the elemental match work from the date. Birth time sharpens the full reading in the app.
